Hear about titles that will grab
your interest and are found in our library - but NOT on the
bestseller list! Librarians Carlen DeThorne and Eric Bailey will
highlight 4-6 books each that appeal to adults in a 30 minute
book talk. The November talk highlighted Adult Fiction (information
about titles discussed is available at the library), and the January
talk will cover Adult Nonfiction.

Are you looking for
heroes and villains, twisted plots, and tension-filled, climactic
stories? If so, then thrillers and suspense novels are for you!
Fast-paced and impossible to put down, thrillers
give definition to the term "page-turner!"
Perhaps you prefer
the puzzling nature of mystery writing. Mysteries are often filled
with well-developed characters, including detectives who seldom wait
for due process. Fan of para-normality? Many mysteries also
include paranormal aspects, including vampires and zombies!
|
Starts Saturday, December 3 and Runs 3 Weeks
|
A
miniature-scale Snow Village will be on display in the Spruth Room in
conjunction with the celebration of "It's a Wonderful Life in
Lake Bluff!" The decorative village consists of a number of
charming houses and shops set along a boulevard full of activity. The
library's teen volunteers set up the village donated by Kathy
O'Hara.

Discussion led
by Eric Bailey
Winner
of the 2008 Edgar Award for Best Novel.
Adam Chase has
a violent streak, and not without reason. As a boy in Rowan County,
he saw things that no child should see, suffered wounds that cut to
the core and scarred him. The trauma left him passionate and
misunderstood - a fighter. After being narrowly acquitted of a murder
charge, Adam is hounded out of the only home he's ever known, exiled
for a sin he did not commit. For five long years he disappears,
fading into the faceless gray of New York City. Now he's back and
nobody knows why - not his family or the cops, not the enemies he
left behind. But Adam has his reasons. (Book Cover)
