SPECIAL MEETING

LAKE BLUFF PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 7:00pm in the Spruth Room

Prior notification of intention to attend is not required but is appreciated. Questions related to the Library agenda can be sent before or shared in person during the meeting to Library Interim Director David J. Seleb at interimdirector@lakeblufflibrary.org. AGENDA

  1. Call to Order: by Bonnie Shaul at 7:03 pm
  2. Roll Call: Trustees Shaul, Jerch, Graziano, Jardine, and Hayes, and Alex Todd of Dieters & Todd were present; Seleb, Friedeman and Zaute were absent.
  3. Public Comment: None present
  4. New Business: Report from Todd on progress with Executive Search
    • Todd is current director of Prospect Heights Library
    • Entire process will take approx. 4 months
    • Allow 4-6 weeks for new director to leave old job
    • Todd already spoke with LB Library staff earlier this evening to get their input
    • D&T will bring us 4-5 qualified candidates for first round of interviews by zoom
    • We will ultimately choose 2 for second round interviews in-person; various dates were discussed (Jan 6, 18, 25?) to best accommodate everyones’ schedules
    • Library Director job description written by D&T was discussed with some changes to the original document concerning preparation, attendance, and participation in all Board, Special, and Committee meetings; we were tasked with informing Interim Director Seleb of these changes
    • We still need to agree on a hiring salary range and our maximum offer
    • Said changes will be discussed/approved at November Board Meeting
    • D&T will provide monthly updates
    • Q&A session results: We need to tell the Village of Lake Bluff what we need, not simply ask for it.
  5. Executive Session: None needed
    All regular meetings and committee meetings of the Lake Bluff Board of Library Trustees are open to the public. If you wish to attend the October 19, 2023 meeting and have special requirements as outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act, please notify the Library Director Renee Grassi by 12 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
  6. Adjournment: Who moved and seconded the motion to adjourn and what time this meeting adjourned were not noted by yours truly, but be assured that we did indeed officially adjourn, probably around 8 pm.
