The Children's Department of Lake Bluff Public Library provides current, responsive, high-interest materials and programs throughout the year for children through Grade 8.
The Children's Department offers a variety of well chosen fiction, non- fiction in paperback,hardcover, periodical, audio and DVD formats for all ages.
The Children's Department programs include the annual Summer Reading Club, Winter Reading Club, Preschool Story Time, Baby Story Time and other special programs throughout the year.
Reader's Advisory for all ages is a top priority of the Children's Department of the Lake Bluff Library. We are happy to offer suggestions for reading and viewing materials, as well as "read-alike" choices, for every child.
Winter Reading Club

Earn yourself a reading badge (or 2 or 3 or 4) this winter. In our newly designed club, grades 3-8 can earn their badge by reading only 5 books on a theme. Grades 1-2 can earn their badge by reading only 10 books. This program is designed for independent readers in grades 1 through 8.

We will have stories, songs and crafts for young children. Registration is required.

Valentine Workshop
Sunday, February 5 to Friday, February 10
Drop-in and express your creativity by making your own Valentine. We will have all the supplies you need to make beautiful Valentines for all your loved ones. Open to children through grade 8. Preschoolers will need a caregiver's assistance.
Leap Year Frog Craft
Sunday, February 26 to Wednesday, February 29
Yes, it's leap year again! Commemorate this every four year phenomenon by dropping in and making a frog craft.
Musical Family Fun with Super Stolie!

Warm up your February with a 'cool' musical show, snow, songs, freeze dance, interactive and fun for the season.
Knitting with Eliza
Tuesdays at 4:30 pm, January 24 to February 28
Children ages 9, 10 and 11 can join knitting guru Eliza for this relaxed knitting group. Beginning knitters are welcome. Ms. Eliza will show you the fundamentals of knitting and how to make simple hats and scarves. Bring any projects you are working on. First time participants will be supplied with materials.
Parent/Child Reading Club
Boys and girls in grades 4-6 can bring a parent to our reading group. We will meet once a month to discuss a different book. Copies of the books will be available at the children's desk.Monday, January 23 at 7:30 pm
