Hoopla Borrowing Limit Changing

Hoopla Service Update

If you’ve recently seen the message, “The collective daily borrow limit set by your library has been reached and will reset at midnight” while using Hoopla, you’re not alone.

Hoopla has become increasingly popular with Lake Bluff Public Library users—and we love that so many of you are exploring eBooks, audiobooks, movies, and more! However, this growing demand has outpaced our current digital media budget.

To help ensure that more patrons can continue to enjoy Hoopla access each month, we are adjusting the monthly borrowing limit from 6 titles to 3 titles per person, beginning August 1.

By reducing the borrowing limit, we can redirect funds to create over 40 additional borrowing opportunities each month. This helps us serve more users while staying within our budget. Our goal is to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy our digital collections every month.

Along with Hoopla, the Library offers two other fantastic digital services:

  • Libby: Access thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines with your Library card.
  • Kanopy: Stream films, documentaries, and kids’ videos—all available to you for free.

For more information about all of our digital offerings or if you need help checking your Hoopla borrows or getting started with other resources, please visit eBooks and Downloadables on our website, or stop by the Library—we’re happy to assist!

We know changes like this can be frustrating, and we appreciate your flexibility as we work to serve the whole community.
Thank you—and happy reading, listening, and watching!
