Children

The Children's Department of Lake Bluff Public Library provides current, responsive, high-interest materials and programs throughout the year for children through Grade 8. Programs include the annual Summer and Winter Reading Clubs, Preschool Storytime, and more. We are happy to offer suggestions for reading and viewing materials, as well as "read-alike" choices, for every child.

Our collection includes a wide variety of books and eBooks/eAudiobooks. The department also houses a wonderful collection of magazines, DVDs, Blu-rays, and CDs that can be enjoyed by children and their families.

Social Story

What is a social story? A social story is a tool that helps children with disabilities or who have difficulties with unfamiliar situations know what to expect when they come to the library, or any other unfamiliar place. This social story will help children understand what they can expect to happen and activities they can participate in while at the library. View our social story here.
