The Children's Department of Lake Bluff Public Library provides current, responsive, high-interest materials and programs throughout the year for children through Grade 8. Programs include the annual Summer and Winter Reading Clubs, Preschool Storytime, and more. We are happy to offer suggestions for reading and viewing materials, as well as "read-alike" choices, for every child.

Our collection includes a wide variety of books and eBooks/eAudiobooks. The department also houses a wonderful collection of magazines, DVDs, Blu-rays, and CDs that can be enjoyed by children and their families.

Programming Announcement

We are excited to announce the return of in-person programming for fall, as well as the introduction of some new types of programs:

  • In-Person Only: These programs are offered in-person at the Library or another location.
  • Hybrid Programs: These programs are offered in-person at the Library and will also be streamed live on Zoom. You can attend however works best for you!
  • Online Only with Live Viewing at the Library: These programs are offered online only, either through Zoom or another platform such as Facebook Live. You can come to the Library to view these programs on the big screen in our programming room.

Please note: All in-person programming is offered in compliance with state and local guidance on gatherings. In the event that the guidance on gatherings changes, the Library will update its programming plans to ensure the health and safety of staff and patrons. Any changes made to our programming schedule will be posted on the Library website as soon as possible.
