Banned Books Week

At the heart of every library is the belief that access to information—without barriers—is a foundational freedom. Literacy isn’t just about reading books. It’s about the power to think critically, to explore new ideas, and to participate fully in our community and democracy.

That’s why we are committed to representing a wide range of voices and perspectives in everything we do—from the materials on our shelves to the programs we offer. Everyone deserves to see themselves reflected, and to have the opportunity to learn from others’ experiences.

We’re deeply grateful to our community, the Village of Lake Bluff, and the Lake Bluff History Museum for their continued partnership and support. Their dedication allows us to serve our residents more meaningfully and creatively.

In that spirit, we invite you to join us for Banned Books Week (October 6–11) as we celebrate the freedom to read and explore the stories that challenge, inspire, and connect us. Visit Banned Books Week for a full list of events and activities.

Your voice matters to us. We want to hear what you love, what you need, and what you imagine for your Library. Please reach out to Natalie Starosta, Library Director—we’re listening.
