Resolved: Known issue with Library Online Accounts

The Library would like to thank patrons who, over the past several months, have reported problems logging into their online accounts. This is a known issue that the Library has been actively working to resolve since this first came to our attention in June of 2023. The vendor for our Library’s online catalog has confirmed that this error is a known issue affecting several libraries nationwide. Unfortunately, the vendor has not yet been able to find a workable solution to the problem. An additional software update is scheduled for January 11, which we hope will resolve this issue.

The following troubleshooting information aims to improve user experience and help those who are experiencing these account issues:

  • You may have received this error message during attempts to log into your online account: “Authorization Failure: You are not authorized to use this application for the following reasons: Unknown.” 
  • If you experience this error, click on the back button on your browser to return to the login page, reenter your library card number and PIN, and click the login button again. 
  • If you are using a mobile device, try logging into your account using a desktop or laptop computer. 
  • If you continue to experience issues with your account, please call the Library at 847-234-2540 or email our Reference Desk for further assistance.

The Library continues to work closely with our software vendor to resolve this issue and hopes a solution can be identified soon.  We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
