Has this ever happened to you? You know you want to read something, but you’re just not sure what. Maybe you want something that’s just like that great book you read a couple weeks ago, or maybe you’re looking to branch out and try something new.

In-Person Reader’s Advisory

We have a number of trained reader’s advisors on staff. Come in and talk to one of our staff members working at the reference desk upstairs (or at the main desk in the Children’s Department if you’re looking for youth materials) and we’ll see what we can find for you.

Stream movies with your Lake Bluff Library card

Calling all movie lovers: did you know that you can stream movies using your Lake Bluff Library card? We offer a couple of great movie streaming services that are sure to impress even the most discerning cinephile.

Hoopla

What’s all the hoopla about Hoopla? Where do we start? Hoopla has a huge movie library that ranges from classic films all the way to titles just released this year. In addition to a really impressive movie library, you can also use Hoopla to checkout eBooks, eAudiobooks, comics, and music. You can check out up to 8 Hoopla titles per month, and every title is always available—no waitlists, no overdue fines, no worries!

Lake Bluff Library Director will leave for new role in Wisconsin

Lake Bluff Library Director to leave post 7/31

At the June 21 meeting of the Lake Bluff Library Board of Trustees, Eric Bailey announced that he will resign from his position as Library Director effective July 31, 2022.

“This is not a change that I make lightly,” said Bailey in his resignation letter. “I love the Lake Bluff Public Library and the community it serves, and only a rare opportunity could pull me away.” Bailey has accepted the position of Library Director of the Waupaca Area Public Library in his hometown of Waupaca, Wisconsin—the same library Bailey says inspired his lifelong love of libraries and learning.

The Carole and Alfred Stroh Reading Room

Renovations are coming this summer at the Lake Bluff Public Library thanks to a generous donation from long time Board member Carole Stroh. Beginning on June 3rd, the space formerly occupied by the Adult Computer Room will be transformed into a quiet reading and study space, complete with comfortable seating and fireplace donated by the Friends of the Lake Bluff Library. Computer access, both ready-access sit down terminals and laptops, will continue to be available at the Library. No disruptions to any services are anticipated. Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy the new space!
