Exterior Railing Replacement

The Library’s exterior railings will be replaced August 26 through 31. During this work, access through the Library’s main entrance may be temporarily impacted.

The main entrance will remain open and accessible throughout the project, and Library users and Lake Bluff History Museum visitors will still be able to enter the building.

Please use caution when entering and exiting the building and follow any posted signage while work is underway.

Oak Ave. Book Drop

The Oak Ave. drive-up book drop has been replaces and is officially back open! Thank you for your patience while it was out of service, and thank you to everyone who used our walk-up book drop during the temporary closure. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to have the drive-up book drop back open.

Library Director Natalie Starosta Announces Departure from Lake Bluff Public Library
Natalie Starosta, Library Director of Lake Bluff Public Library, shared her resignation with the Library Board of Trustees. Her last day with Lake Bluff Public Library will be August 7, 2026. Ms. Starosta has accepted the position of Library Director at Huntley Area Public Library.
 
Ms. Starosta joined Lake Bluff Public Library in March 2025. During her tenure, she worked closely with Library staff and the Board of Trustees to strengthen Library operations, support long-term planning, and position the Library for continued success.

Oak Ave Book Drop Closed

Update: The Oak Ave. drive-up book drop has been replaced and is officially back open!

The Oak Ave drive-up book drop is temporarily closed due to damage that occurred over the weekend.

While repairs are being addressed, Library users may return materials using the walk-up book drop located at the main entrance of the Library on Scranton Ave. Materials may also be returned inside during regular Library hours.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while the drive-up book drop remains unavailable.

Staying Connected

It’s been nearly a year since I joined the Lake Bluff Public Library, and I want to thank you all for the warm welcome, generosity, and support you’ve shown as we’ve worked together to stabilize the Library’s building, services, and finances. Over the past year, we’ve begun updating critical infrastructure, including installing new sprinkler heads and fully testing the fire system; completed a comprehensive facility assessment to guide future improvements; and are nearing completion of a five-year strategic plan. We’ve also restored notary and test-taking services, along with much more.

Book Drop is Open

The Oak Ave. book drop is temporarily closed due to a mechanical issue. At this time, there is no timeline for reopening. Library users should return materials to the book drop outside the main entrance or inside the Library. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
